When exposed to heat up to 900, stainless steel 321 Forged Fittings can have good oxidation characteristics. Its performance in aqueous solutions is also strong due to its ease of resistance to chlorides and halides. Niobium and titanium are added to the austenitic stainless steel 321 tube for stabilizing purposes. Thermal treatment is not used for stainless steel 321 since it cannot harden the metal. If a tougher metal is required, stainless steel 321H can be used in its place.
Due to limitations imposed by titanium, the welding treatment is only applicable to stainless steel 321 Forged Fittings. Carbon content in stainless steel 321H Forged Fittings ranges from 0.04 percent to 0.10 percent. SS 321,321H Forged Fittings made from developed carbon steel material. Forging steel is a process that creates solid fittings. Carbon steel is heated to molten temperatures and placed in the dies. The heated steel is then machined into the forged steel fittings.
What is the distinction between steel and 321,321H Forged Fittings?
Iron and carbon are alloyed under extremely high pressure to make forged steel. Forged steel has a finer grain structure, more excellent tensile and fatigue strength, and superior flexibility compared to other processed steel.
Why are 321,321H Forged Fittings more durable?
A forging has a finer grain structure than a casting, making it mechanically more robust. Unlike castings, forgings are impervious to cavities, cold pour problems, porosity, and shrinkage. Castings frequently require more expensive alloys to achieve the high strength required for most fittings.
