Titanium grade 2 is often known as commercially pure or CP titanium since it is not alloyed. One of its characteristics is the increased content of elements like iron and oxygen in Titanium Grade 2 Fasteners compared to other CP grades. Titanium Grade 2 Fasteners must be annealed between 1103° F and 1400° F for approximately two hours. In order to release stress, the alloy is then air-cooled.

Due to its low alloying percentage, titanium grade 2 is more affordable than grade 5 in comparison. The grade 5 titanium fasteners alloy is slightly more resistant than the Grade 2 Titanium Fasteners. Even though both grades, CP titanium grades 2 and 5, tend to offer exceptional resistance to corrosion with regards to chlorine and chlorine-containing compounds as well as salt water or brine.
